A few days back Google announced that they will be launching a new algorithm update sometime in 2021. The new ranking algorithm will focus on a good user experience.
Google said it will give us six-months notice beforehand.
The purpose of this update is to make sure that sites that rank at the top aren’t creating experiences that users hate.
Google through its webmasters’ blog shared:
The page experience signal measures aspects of how users perceive the experience of interacting with a web page. Optimizing for these factors makes the web more delightful for users across all web browsers and surfaces, and helps sites evolve towards user expectations on mobile. In simple words, the update will prefer user-friendly websites over sites that aren’t user friendly and will help them rank higher. So make sure your website design is planned and implemented keeping the user experience in mind.
Also, the faster your site loads the better. So try to get your website load time for both desktop & mobile in under 3 seconds. Website Images play an important part in loading time. Ensure the image file format is chosen wisely.

The existing ranking signals and the core web vitals signals will combine to make Google’s new page experience algorithm:
In addition to this, Google said that great content is still more important & webpages that have great content may rank well with average page experience
